Beetle Kill Blue Pine flooring is typically milled from Lodgepole and Ponderosa
Pine trees that have been killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle. The distinctive
blue-gray stains and occasional blood-red streaks are the result of a fungus
caused by the beetle’s attack on the tree.
Beetle Kill Pine is just as stable and durable as any other pine. Beetle Kill
Pine can be considered a “Green” product, due to the fact that it is standing
dead before it was harvested. Milling this lumber into flooring, siding,
furniture, etc. allows us to avoid letting a valuable resource go to waste.
There is a large supply of Beetle Kill Pine in the Rocky Mountain region; it is cost effective
and easy to obtain.
